Hailing from Olney, Maryland, Laura rarely had a dull moment in the Prangley household with three sisters & a brother. Her parents took her to see stand up comedy as a surprise 16th birthday present at the DC Improv. She signed up for improv classes at the club shortly thereafter and started performing at 17.

While a film student at Virginia Tech, Laura discovered Attitudes Comedy Club off campus and she soon became a regular.  Summers in college were spent training at the Upright Citizens Brigade.

Laura moved to to New York in 2008 and created a variety of shows including Uncorked Comedy, A Punchline Grows in Brooklyn, Too Soon, and Hokies of Comedy.

In 2012 Laura founded By The Bay Productions. The company focused on developing, shooting, editing & pitching TV concepts. This led her to Conde Nast Entertainment where she developed and produced video content for top brands such as Allure, Teen Vogue, Vanity Fair, Wired and Vogue.

Laura has been seen in Tru TV's "Friends of the People", Comedy Central's "Inside Amy Schumer, SELF Magazine's "Girl vs. Sweat" and Yahoo's "Mansome." She's performed stand up on The Truth About Money PBS special, Cape Fear Comedy Festival and 202 Comedy Festival. While in NYC, she was also a contributing writer on Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update."

Laura currently resides in Los Angeles and co-hosts a monthly show called Goodnight LA in West Hollywood. She formerly worked at Director of Development at Gunpowder & Sky, making long and short form content including the upcoming MTV show Too Stupid To Die, the comedy series That Detox Life for Facebook, Breakarate at go90 and You Look Like on LOL Network. In May of 2019 she launched her own development and production company, Spirit Chair, focused on championing projects from diverse voices - start to finish.
